After configuring patrons and circulation we will move to configure MARC framework. This will help us to enter a catalogue entry simply in the Catalogue module. The by default frameworks have a large number of fields in different tabs which may not be needed while entering a catalogue record. Configuring the MARC framework will help to hide the unnecessary fields so that it looks small and simple. You can hide the unnecessary fields by editing one by one or you can import a pre-configured framework where the fields are hidden and only necessary fields are open. Further, you can also hide or open any field as your concern. We will go to
Log in–> Administration Module–> Catalogue
There will find the default frameworks. These frameworks can also be seen in catalogue module wile entering a record.
We can delete the unnecessary frameworks and can import the pre-customised frameworks
The default framework MARC tags are set to 000 to 999 in ten different tabs which seems to a large in size. We can hide the unnecessary fields one by one.
We can import pre-configured frameworks by creating new from the Admin module. First, we will add a framework .
Then we will assign a framework code and description and will save it.
After saving it we will import the pre-configured framework into it.
The pre-configured file saved in a .csv file. We will choose it by clicking on browse files and then click on import button.
We will wait until it gets completed. After completing the import. We will check it from the cataloguing module.
We can also hide or open any particular field further if needed. For example we will remove the following 504 tag. We just have to go to the particular framework and edit the structure by clicking on the action button.
After going to the particular structure search for 504 tag and then click on subfields tab under the action button of the 504 tag.
Then click on the edit button of subfield a.
Then choose the ignore option under managed in tab option and save it.
See the change in the catalogue module under that particular framework the tag (504) disappeared.
You can add more framework in this way and open or hide tags like this. Some pre-configured .csv files for the various framework are linked here. You can download them and upload these in your Koha. You can also go through the following video guide of this manual.
